Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
